Jaime' New Goals

First off, I want to say how great all of you are!!  You are all doing amazing with this challenge. My performance has been more mediocre lately, but you are all very inspiring!

I didn't make my goals this last 6 weeks. :(  I only lost 2.5 pounds and 2 inches. I also have only worked out a couple of times these last couple of weeks. I did really well the first couple of weeks getting my fruits and veggies in, but fell off the wagon the last few weeks.

So, it's time to get my butt in gear again!  My first goal this six weeks is to be more consistent!!  I give up very easily when it comes to my weight. If I have one bad day then I have a tendency to give up the rest of the week and it's hard then to get back on track. So I need to be more consistent with my work outs and diet.  Second, since the number on the scale is such a sore point for me, I'm going to try to focus more on a healthier lifestyle and less on weight loss. I'm going to continue to track my weight but try not to let the number on the scale discourage me anymore. I want to try to put more of my focus on just eating better and being more active and let the scale do whatever it's going to do!  Third, I'm going to try to get my fluids in everyday. I used to be really good about this, but lately I've been slacking. And my final goal is going to be to find at least three new places in the area to walk/workout. I've heard of several places around here that are great for walking/hiking/biking but have never checked any of them out. After living here for six years ( six years and one day to be exact) I guess it's time!!

I am always eager to get on here and read everyone's posts and I check the blog several times a week for new ones. I will also try to be better myself about posting. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's scavenger hunt pics!  :)

Lots of Love,
Jaime Jo

Harv's Update

Can't believe another 6 weeks is up already but I am happy that I hit my goal of 10 lbs on Saturday- the last day.  I know also that Marianne and Linda keep telling me that- "you don't get to count more than one workout a day" but I have a tablet that I am keep track of both Linda and my own workouts in- exactly what they were and how many.  I did 83 workouts in the last 42 days.  If I can keep that up, I hope I will be able to get another 6 lbs off in the next 6 weeks.  That is my goal as well as, with the weather getting better, spending a lot more time on the trikes and bikes.  Of course not losing any wallyball time but maybe trading a few walking miles.  This has been fun and it is going to get more fun, I think for all of us because of the nicer weather coming---except maybe the HOT Arizona days, for those in the south.  I guess there you spend more time in the air-conditioned gym- ha!  Will check in again, sometime soon- hopefully before 6 weeks is up.  Glad everyone is doing well, with the "Get Fit" program.

Brenda - new goals:)

Hey everyone!!!

So, for the last six weeks I was up and down with my goal of only one sweet thing per day.  But the last week has been excellent both for sweets and just eating well in general (increasing my veggie intake too!).  So, I want to keep up the healthier eating (and continue drinking lots of fluids too) - I feel like I just really got started so I think the momentum will carry me through the next six weeks!  I also wanted to post more, I could improve on that! And as a new goal, I would like to increase my flexibility in this next six weeks too!

I love reading the blog posts, even when they are just a short update! I am going to work on posting more too and am excited to see everyone's contest pictures!!! :)

Y'all are awesome and fabulous!!!

Cheers:)

Pam's NEW 6-Week Goals

Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance...you guys are gonna get tired of hearing me say that, however, I reached my weight-loss goal, actually exceeded it by a few pounds...so want to maintain that...I took my vitamins everday of the past 6 weeks...so happy for that...I exercised at least 7 days per week for the past 6 weeks, so I want to keep that up, and I want to keep drinking my fluids.  I do add MIO to my water...it helps me to get my water down...it's '0' calorie flavor that you add to water.  I really love the accountability this BLOG has done for me (us) and always enjoy checking in on your blog entries too.  The scavenger hunt sounds like a lot of fun too...thanks to Marianne for making it fun and exciting for all of us!!!

New Contest.

So, apologies to Donna for being so slow in sending the prize from the last contest.  It went out in the mail today so you should see it by Tuesday, next week.  (You might have to look hard for both prizes because I put so much paper in there)  :)

Since there seems to be a lack of posting, again we are going for another contest...dun dun duuuuuunnn....ready for this??  We are going on a.......scavenger hunt!!!  Oh how exciting ;)

Rules:
The pictures that we are asking for on this hunt MUST be done AFTER I post the list- pictures taken prior to March 23, 2012 will NOT count.

Do the best you can- it was intentionally made so that you likely will not be able to get them all- so don't feel bad for not finding one- there are certain things on the list that I put on there to even out the "fairness" because some places have warmer weather, some have cooler, some places are sunny, some snowy or rainy, some places have certain plants/animals,  other places have certain scenery, etc, etc.

If you don't know what something is- either ask or google it.

For the items that say "someone doing/wearing/etc" that can be anyone- someone you know or a complete stranger but if the list says "someone you know"  that (sorry to state the obvious) must be someone you know :)

To post the pictures just make a blog post, tell us what the picture is (from the given list), and what number corresponds with that picture - for example: If you take a picture of a strawberry then say something like "me eating a strawberry #24" - or something similar to that.

There will be extra items added in sneaky places so look carefully in all of the posts, comments, your emails, etc- you never know where an additional item might be posted. :)

The prize will be something of the "Lululemon, Starbucks, Nike, Exercise, Eating Healthy" nature. It's not all nailed down yet- so will let you know as we get closer to the end- but will try to make it worth everyone's time.

The contest officially starts today and ends on April 30th.

Really confused?  Comment in this post, or text me and I will respond as quickly as I can.

Ready for the list??

Update

We have been pretty busy around here but thankful for my Sister, who watches Hannah Tuesday and Thursday mornings so that I can go to Pilates.  It is a great way to start the day- I feel much more full of energy and happier after my morning workout.

We are coming up on our 6 week goals this Saturday and can't wait to hear from all of you.  I was quite pleased at my doctor's appt in 5 weeks since my last appt I have lost 10 lbs!  I hit my goal and I am super excited!!  Now, to lose 6 more in the next 6 weeks is my new goal.  Also, I want to continue drinking more water- I have been doing a lot better than I was but I want to drink at least two bottles everyday instead of 1-1.5 bottles full.  I have been taking my prenatal vitamins everyday but not 2 more of my vitamins because they make me sick to my stomach.  Now that I am not feeling as nauseated I need to get consistent with all 3 vitamins, again.

Keep those posts and pictures coming! We all love hearing how you are doing.  How did you do on the last 6 week goals and what are your new goals?

H's funny scrunchy nosed smile

Blowing you all kisses!

Donna's Check In

Hi all!  Not doing too good on my goal to post 3 times a week!  I've been doing fairly well at getting in my exercising in.  It has been so beautiful here so have been walking outside.  I'm dog sitting again tonight until Tuesday night, so Cody and I will be walking (as long as it stays nice).  Supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow and 80's this weekend.  I'm so enjoying it!

Love you all and keep up the good work!

A little late...but never too late.

Hello everyone! Glad to say I got my first workout in this year (30 min workout anyway). I've been lifting and doing pushups most of the year but not for a constant 30 minutes. But today I hopped on the treadmill after work and ran for 25 min and walked fast for 5. Let's see if I can keep it up.
Love you all, Bryce.

Marianne's update.

Glad for those of you who have posted- even when you don't feel like we have anything new or exciting to share just know that you are motivating others by just doing your same old routine.

So I have felt pretty lousy on and off (much, MUCH different than with Hannah) so between being tired, feeling gross, and spending all last week planning two parties and another party tonight I have not had much time/motivation/energy to workout.  So last week was BAD!  I got a big fat old ZERO in the workout column- first time since the beginning of the year- boohoo! :(  BUT, this week is much better.  I started off this morning at the Y with my Aunt Karen doing Pilates from 7-8:00am- it felt great!!  I just feel so much LESS lousy when I do something for exercise.

Even though last week was way less than ideal, I do have to say that I am very excited about my 7.6 lbs gone.  I thought I would only gain but that's not so, apparently.  Belly is growing but somehow losing weight- it's weird but I'll take it! :)

Keep up the working out and posting!

"These Shoes Were Made For Walking...." (PAM)

And exercising, and Zumba-ing, etc.  (Yoga is barefoot :) It's been quite awhile since I've checked-in, and really don't have anything very exciting to add.  I have been able to do at least 7 workouts every week since the beginning of the year, so that is a big accomplishment for me!  It has really helped a lot, I can say, as far as losing weight and keeping it off up to this point, I have actually gotten a few pounds below where I want to be, so that is another huge accomplishment for me.  Haven't been this weight since Tom and I were dating 28 years ago.  Thanks to Marianne for having the EXERCISE FAMILY FIT 2012 to keep us all going.  It has really helped me and kept me accountable.  Also been taking my vitamins everyday so far this current 6 week period and working on the water intake too.  Thanks for all your encouragement to me to keep on keeping on with this exercise...it's a good thing for all of us!!! :)

Jaime Jo

Started the week out good. Got my 30 min workout in today even though I really didn't feel like it!! I hope everyone has a fabulous week!! :)

Hi All!

Loved all the contest pics.  I'm doing pretty well.  Really discouraged about weight loss.  Maybe I'm just supposed to be fat!  But I am feeling better so that has to count doesn't it??  We walked around Centennial Lake last night and I have been walking to the DVD indoors when it isn't so nice outside.  I'm really looking forward to some nice weather.  Cooled down today, but is supposed to be close to 50 the rest of the week and close to 60 this weekend.  Next week they are even talking about it hitting 70.  Yea!!!  I want to walk outside more before it gets too hot!

Anybody else feel like they are on a emotion roller coaster ride?  Hope to see some more posts so I can get back up to a high again!

And Happy Birthday to two really special nieces!!  Can't believe little Hannah is 1 today.  Someone give those 2 a birthday hug from me please!

Linda :)

So these were the 3 new fruits we tried - the Kumquat was not my favorite, it was kinda bitter/sour (or something!!)  The pummelo was really good, sort of like grapefruit but maybe not quite as juicy.  The ugly fruit was really good too - it was really juicy and kind of a cross between orange and lemon (but not too sour).  The cactus wasn't bad, except for the slimy factor!

I've been pretty good about getting my exercise in, either walking, cycling @ the Y or Wallyball .... but I failed to try a new one :(  We were going to try TRX suspension training, but then it didn't work out last week -- we're still going to try it out though.

Hope everyone's doing good - keep moving!!!!   :)

Hannah :)

Hannah wanted to get her 2 cents in:

And she's started a new exercise:

                                                                                                                                    (posted by grandma)

Jaime's new experiences

Being the procrastinator that I am, I stayed true to form and waited until last night to post my contest pics.  However, when I got home at 11:15, I wasn't able to get on the Internet!  I'm not sure if these will count for the contest since I am late, but I wanted to post them anyway.  :)

As mom already posted, we tried Mango, Edamame and a couple of the machines in the exercise room that we hadn't tried before.

The mango was delicious!!  I will definitely try that again.

I wasn't so sure about the edamame...

But it really wasn't too bad.  Not something I'm dying to try again, but it was OK.  :)

And lastly, I tried out the exercise bikes in the little gym at mom's place.  It's been a really long time since I rode a bike!

I haven't had a very good couple of weeks.  I haven't gotten in as many workouts as I would like.  I'm looking for any motivation I can get!  I hope everyone is doing good!

Donna's contest pictures

This was fun!  I bought and tried a mango.  I have had mango flavor before but never had a real mango  and didn't know how to pick out a good one.  After I bought it, I found out that the more rose color it has the riper and better it is, so dumb luck I guess, I got an excellent one!  It was delicious!

I also tried Edamame (soybeans).  Surprisingly, I liked them!  These we ordered at Crave.  They had a spicy Asian sause on them.  I would eat these again also.  Wow, a vegetable that I like!!

For exercise, I tried out 2 new machines in our exercise room.  Gotta say that I like the good old treadmill the best in that room!  But it was fun to try them.

Brenda:)

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week! I certainly am! :)
I have had a lot of fun trying new things! Here are the pictures! :)

Fruits and Veggie!
The pummelo was good- I didn't actually eat it like this, but you can see how big it was!

I thought the Cactus was pretty decent!

The kumquat I ate was suuuuper sour! I don't know, maybe mine wasn't ripe yet or something, but it was kinda like biting into a lemon!

The ugly fruit was so juicy and delicious! :)

Exercise:
So, I was trying to figure out what kind of exercise I was going to do for something new.  I have been wanting to go to a TRX class, which is using straps and your body weight for strength training and cardio work but the were pretty limited in times so hopefully next week.  This morning I decided I would try hot yoga- I have wanted to try it for a long time too, but have been too chicken! See, I hate being hot and I hate sweating so I thought doing yoga in a room that is 104degrees for 90 minutes probably wouldn't be a good fit for me, but I wanted to try it anyway so I did! I went to this little studio in Burien.  I had done some yoga as a class at school a couple years ago, but this was not what I expected at all!  I have NEVER sweated so much in my life but I feel so refreshed now and could stretch so much further than I ever have by the end of the class that it was all worth it and I think I will probably go back again! :) Anyway, I won't go into too much detail, but I think y'all should try it once!
 Before...

After... you can't really see all my sweat, but every inch of my including all of my hair was drenched and I was as red as a ripe tomato! :) And the studio in the background!
